The collaboration we are looking at today is a unique one.
Kuumba has partner with its fair share of companies and their background is usually the same. Sneakers, street wear or Japanese mega brands. Jason Markk on the other hand doesn't actually produce anything of that nature.
Jason Markk for those that don't know; specializes in cleaning products for sneakers (Okay, so maybe it’s not such a bizarre collaboration). In the form of liquid solutions, brushes, wipes and others.
When this collaboration first leaked I was very surprised, but also excited. I love seeing brands branching out, trying new things. Another unique element of this partnership was the products on offer. Usually you'd expect a packet or tube of incense. But no, they went all out for this one. You could choose between a tube of incense, a mini holder or a fragrance tag.
The name they went with for the incense was "Purple Rain'. Now that I think of it; the Jason Markk cleaning liquid is purple in color so I'm guessing this was the reference?
So is it nice?
Well, over the past few months I’ve burnt a good 10 - 15 sticks and I've been on quite a journey. At the start I was really not a fan. The scent didn't leave any lasting impressions on me and I found myself burning through the sticks for the sake of it. However, I am happy to report that its grown on me a little.
The scent is...odd? It’s very gentle and peculiar. It smells like there are notes of Eucalyptus or Aloe Vera. An almost grass like scent. As times passes the scent develops into a scent similar to that of the actual cleaning solution. Slightly chemical but gentle and clean.
Although I'm not a huge fan of this incense I would still recommend you give it a try yourself. It’s not unpleasant by any stretch of imagination. It just lacks presence.
Scent: Very gentle, grass like.
