Party People is part of the Kummba ‘Classic Series’ of incense and having never tried one form this series, I was very keen to get my hands on some. The Classic Series sticks are priced slightly higher than the regular series. I’m not entirely sure why, so I can only hazard a guess that these are the first run of original scents that Kuumba produced. If anyone has any more info, please let us know.
Upon opening the pack, the sticks smelt quite floral. I couldn’t pick out exactly what type of flower, but the notes were there.
Burning incense has become a bit of a ritual for me. The type of scents that I burn often reflect my mood, and how I’m feeling. Now, when I burnt Party People, I wasn’t in the mood for a party, and have no idea when I’ll next be having a party, so I just put on some Cyndi Lauper and lit up.
I find with some incense, the scent produced during the first few minutes smell very similar. This was no exception. It was a mellow scent and didn’t really have too much character to it. A few minutes later however, it started to evolve. The floral scents came through nicely and as the smoke filled the room, I started to pick up hints of sweet perfume. This scent smelt very feminine, and I really liked that. A lot of the incense I have a deep, musky and earthy, so to have something that smells quite delicate was a welcoming change.
After I burnt the stick I found myself getting frustrated because I recognised the smell, but I just couldn’t put my finger on it. That was until my girlfriend emerged from the shower lathered head to toe in rose scented moisturiser and that’s when it hit me – ROSE. Party People smells like rose.
A great scent, and something a little different. This is definitely one for the ladies.
